February 2008
Rain coming down cats and dogs. Glad I stayed home sick today.
January 2008
I appreciate @gruber calling my review “exhaustive,” but compared to Sircausa’s OS X reviews it’s a haiku.
had lunch at a diner with Carlos Santana two tables away. How very Marin County.
Julian: “A sword is a kind of alligator.”
MacBook Air Review posted. I am tired. http://www.macworld.com/article/131864/2008/01/macbookair.html
Movable type REFUSES to install on Leopard. WordPress installs in 2 minutes. Probably going to jump ship. Way to go, Six Apart.
on the bus headed for the GG bridge and home. 5000 word MBAir opus written and edited. Podcast recorded. Video shot, not edited. Tired.
@gruber Oh, I set my own deadlines. See how that works?
3300 words of review and still not done. Ay yi yi.
@bynkii You have perfected blog-retort-as-catharsis.
Just because I can: Micronauts FTW!
At work, MBA hooked up to my external monitor and USB hub — seems to actually work.
@ejacqui Franklin Wireless EVDO modem on Sprint. It’s my “keynote modem.”
On the bus with a USB EVDO card in the MacBook air. Fits fine.
Did I really just write 1000 words about The MacBook Air’s weight and size? Yup.

MacBook Air: Making the migration →
@chockenberry After 14 years of doing this I’m still blown away when I notice something and a developer does something about it :-)
@ejacqui New Migration Assistant lets you basically serve that system up on the network. You put in a keycode (a la Apple TV) and it works.
@ejacqui Yeah, it’s clever. A new Migration a
@ShawnKing I relapsed on Thursday. Feeling better today…
@ejacqui You can actually use wi-fi or Ethernet - I did my MBA migration via an Ethernet cable from my MacBook. It worked, but took 3 hours.
Just cleaned the mudstained carpet out of desperation. Future options: Stop rain, kill dog, remove carpet, or live in filth.
@danielpunkass I see your point, it just seems a bit uninteresting to me. The real action is yet to come…
@danielpunkass I’m not sure how Obama winning a state he was always going to win is much of a story… Dog bites man.
@robrandtoul @luomat @vjl @chrisu Just a first test - plenty more to do and mileage can vary. I’ll try it a few more times. Hold tight…
@carlamagpie I’ll pass it on to my lab guys. Testing I generally try to leave to them.
@marck One cycle’s way too early to tell. More batter-discharging to come once it’s charged.
Bath time for kids.
@gknauss Randy is good. Up in SF for the weekend. Mentioned that he e-mailed you 8 months ago and ought to do so again.
Had a nice lunch at Toast in Mill Valley with my college pal Randy. Home for chili dinner tonight.
Battery-enforced shutdown after roughly three hours of general use. End first test.
@pinatubo2000 Aren’t you the competition for another week? ;-) It’s general use. DVD drive not hooked up.
@danielpunkass I am convinced that in the primaries, people vote for who they think is going to win, so they can be “right.” It’s maddening.
@chockenberry So the bird turns blue when there are new tweets that haven’t been popped up yet?
@chockenberry I can’t help but feel bad for @booberry. He’s been ignored in all of this.
2:45 of constant use, battery at 20%.
@chockenberry Every time I reply to you I want to reply to @frankenberry too
@panache To early to tell, but I’ve been using it for two hours now and it’s not as warm as my cat.
Headphone jack looks like it won’t fit my Ultimate Ears plug (shades of iPhone), but good news.. it will. Points to Apple.
Not impressed with the MacBook Air’s external speaker. It’s under the keyboard, so my hands muffle it when I’m typing.
@leolaporte It’s hard to say yet .. I need to run it down.
@Mich73 The downside is, I have to write the review, so I’m working this weekend… not that I’m complaining.
MacBook Airing it in bed, wearing pajama bottoms. I feel so urbane.
Cloverfield FTW.
sitting in an actual movie theater for the first time in ages. No kids. Listening to the rain come down outside.
@chockenberry Feelin’ Teh Snappy™ right now
@twitterrific It would be nice if, when I’m scroll-wheeling through tweets, you didn’t auto-hide out from under me.
